Greetings fellow bicycle enthusiasts. This winter has brought about some exciting new changes to the face of the Enduro. Our old pal Rich Vincent has stepped down as President/Race Director for the Laramie Enduro. He has left some pretty big shoes to fill, but David Leon has some pretty big feet, so we are excited to see what he will do as the new President. David is a long time cyclist here in Laramie and promises to do his best to insure that the Enduro will always be Wyoming’s #1 Endurance race. With new faces come new ideas and we look forward his guidance throughout the season. Of course Rich is still on the board, so it isn’t like we are starting from scratch, but with Rich on his bike more, we definitely have some work to do.
The Race Director position has been filled by cycling’s good friend, Aaron Lozano, who brings a fresh face to racing. Aaron, born and raised in Wyoming, comes from a cycling family with multiple bicycles in his quiver. With a legacy of supporting racing by watching the kids while his wife races, he knows that keeping the racers happy is how you make a race successful. Active in the local community bike group, Aaron is a positive addition to the Enduro. Last year Aaron and Rich shared the director responsibilities with Rich passing the torch and helping Aaron get his feet wet. Now that Aaron has some soggy boots he has already started producing positive results. His efforts have been focused on re-enforcing old relationships and building new relationships with the USFS, WYDOT, local businesses, and the local cycling community. I am proud to say that Aaron has been working hard to insure that Laramie is represented well in the Laramie Endruo.
One has to wonder…with all the new changes, will this be the year that local Laramie resident steps up….all the way up to the first place position on the podium? Will the stars align? Will this be the year that a Wyomingite wins both the Women’s overall,….and the Men’s overall? Only time will tell.
From the Laramie Enduro Board of Directors, we would like to say thank you to Rich Vincent for his years of dedication. We will make sure to work hard so you can ride, recover and repeat! And thank you to all the sponsors, riders and volunteers who come together to make this race happen. We couldn’t do any of this without you. See you August 6th, and you better start training because it’s a long way to the finish line!
